The 2017 National Conference on Undergraduate Research (NCUR) was held April 6-8 at the University of Memphis. NCUR is the country's largest conference dedicated to undergraduate research, scholarship, and creative works in all disciplines.
The Undergraduate Research & Creative Activity Conference, held March 30, is a premier annual event at The University of Alabama that provides students with the opportunity to highlight their research or creative activity. In addition to bringing attention to the outstanding work being done by UA's undergraduates, the conference allows students to gain experience presenting, become eligible for cash prizes, and form relationships with faculty mentors and fellow conference presenters. The Great Lakes Career Ready Internship Program at Carthage creates paid internship experiences for junior and senior students. Thanks to the generosity of the Great Lakes Higher Education Guaranty Corporation, a total of 198 students over three years will be able to earn $12 per hour for unpaid internships.
Students on the "Namibia: A Sociocultural Journey" study tour had direct interaction with many of Namibia's distinct cultures. This experience was designed for the adventurous student, one who enjoys pitching in to help, conversing with nature, and does not mind the challenges of bush camping.

Alex Viscioni, a graduate student in the communications program at Bob Jones University, was the 2016 recipient of the Mary E. Jarrard Graduate Student Paper Award presented at the Carolinas Communication Association (CCA) Conference in Wilmington, North Carolina, on Saturday, Oct. 1.
Nearly 600 high school seniors competed in Augustana College's annual Scholarship Competition on January 17, 2015. Students competed for $4,000 scholarships awarded by each academic department at Augustana. Winners of the scholarships will be notified by March 1, 2015.
